WHERE TO PRINT YOUR DIGITAL FILES
Local and Online Print Labs to Use
Which Photo Labs NOT to Use?
We at Lot Five Studios are professional photographers, so we always suggest professional photo labs for you to print out our images. Call us photo snobs (yes, it's true), but there are just some places that we don't recommend when printing our digital image files.
In case you didn't know, not all drugstore photo printer machines are created equal. Sometimes the workers who handle them don't fully understand color profiles and other details that may deliver you the best prints. So if we don't print your images for you, please find a professional lab (like the ones above) to do so.
However, if you must use mass market photo labs, please be wary of the following ones, as they are typically inconsistent with color casts (sometimes the skin will look dark or orange), sharpness (sometimes they can be blurry), and paper quality (you should only use archival quality paper, so it lasts longer and doesn't yellow over time). Watch out for: Shutterfly, Snapfish, CVS Pharmacy, and Target.
Pro tip: COLOR--If you are ordering from a lab other than the recommended ones, please ensure you do not check the box labeled "color correct." Our files are already calibrated correctly and are true to life, and color correcting will likely unfavorably change the color cast.
